09 Sep, 2005 - The Council of National Bank of Bulgaria on 8th Sept made the decicison to issue the first commemorative bank note 20 Leva. This banknote is issued in memory of the first two banknotes which were issued on 1st September 1885. This new note is 134 x 74 mm. It will be introduced to the public on 14th September 2005 at 12.00 noon in BNB in Sofia. There will be three prices for this note: 60 Leva for the first 100 numbers, and higher numbers to (???) 40 leva, normal note: face value: 20 Leva. The banknote will feature a unique see-through security feature, Varifeye. According to the Central Bank this will be the first time the Varifeye will be used internationally.
